Class 1: Introduction
In this class you will:
- Learn the importance of Computer Literacy Programs in Adult Basic Education Programs.
- Read articles and essays about Computer Literacy and Adult Education and similar training programs.
Homework Assignment

- Submit the instructor a short email biography about yourself (approximately 250 words or less) and what you hope to gain from this class. Email Biography submission Form.
- Write a reactionary essay or analysis of
the essays that you read for this weeks class and email it to the instructor

Class 2: What to Expect
In this class we will cover:
- What to expect from a typical CCTV Family Computer Literacy class.

Essay
You just entered the classroom as a first time FCLP instructor. You have 10 students. After getting to know each student's goals and background, you learn that one student is legally blind, several other students say they have never used a keyboard while other students convey that they are good at typing, just want to learn how to you a computer. How would you approach teaching everyone, even though students have an obvious difference in experiences from each other?

Class 3: Teaching Computer Basics to Adult Students
In this class you will:
Learn how to teach adults the basic computer skills they need. We will be using an actual syllabus from the CCTV Family Computer Literacy Program. For this class, we will look at Class 1 from the online FCLP Syllabus and strategize how to teach this portion.
Homework Assignment
Create a lesson plan to teach Class 1. Incorporate handouts as well. Email lesson plan and handout (both in Microsoft word form, please) here, to the online instructor.

In this class:
We will look at Class 4 and Class 5 from the online FCLP Syllabus and strategize how to teach these portions.

- Design a lesson plan that will teach adults how to write business and cover letters using Microsoft Word.
- Design and create a Handout that will be a useful reference for students to creates a business or cover letter.

Class 7: Teaching the Internet Part 1
In this class:
We will look at Class 6 from the online FCLP Syllabus and strategize how to teach this portion.
Homework Assignment
Go to Yahoo.com if you've never created an account or forgotten how to create an account (step by step). Select to create a new account and record 'step-by-step', what you are doing. After reading assignments for this section, create a thorough instruction handout on how to create a Yahoo email account.

Class 8: Teaching the Web and Email
In this class:
We will look at Class 7 and Class 8 from the online FCLP Syllabus and strategize how to teach this portion.

Create a WebQuest that will help students understand how to use the google search engine.

In this class:
We will look at Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 from the online FCLP Syllabus and strategize how to teach these portions.
Homework Assignment
- Create a lesson plan that will allow students to easily learn how to create an email account, check email and send emails and email attachments.
- Create an email handout for students to refer to.

FINAL PROJECT WILL BE DUE 2 WEEKS AFTER CLASS 9.
Final Project: Create a syllabus and course proposal for a 12 week course the teaches a computer skill that you believe you would be able to teach. Your course should be directed toward working adults who have already finished the FCLP or perhaps more advanced adults looking to use multimedia applications.
